All valuables and important papers (jewelry, passports, return tickets, etc) should be kept in your hotel's safe deposit box.
Avoid carrying large sums of cash on your person.
Don't use short cuts, narrow alleys or poorly lit streets. Avoid traveling alone at night.
Avoid conversing or arguing in loud tones. Never ever discuss your travel plans or any other personal matter with strangers.
Light summer clothes suites for most of the year however do not wear provocative and revealing clothes. It not only hurts Indian sensibilities, but also invites unwanted attention.
Keep more than one photocopy of your passport, travelers’ cheques, insurance and other related papers. Carry them in a safe and easily accessible bag so that you may easily access them when required.
While visiting a place of worship, make sure you always remove your footwear. Some places also require you to cover your head.
Always carry cotton outfits, hats, sun glasses and sunscreen lotion for touring in the tropical climate of Kerala
Avoid eating cut fruits and raw salad from outside. Do not accept food from strangers in trains and while traveling. Eat from a recognized restaurant.
